Paul has over 25 years’ experience as a corporate finance adviser, including prior to Origin, senior roles with Goldman Sachs JBWere, KPMG and Morgan Grenfell. Paul has completed more than 75 acquisitions, divestments, strategic alliances and capital restructurings.

Paul has advised companies in a wide range of sectors, including consumer, health, building products, engineering, insurance, agriculture and mining.

Paul’s roles have included advising:

  • Blackmores on the divestment of Global Therapeutics to McPherson’s;

  • TRU Kids on a long term license for Hobby Warehouse to sell toy and baby products under the Toys R Us and Babies R Us brands in Australia and New Zealand;

  • Fresenius Medical Care on the acquisition of 70% of the shares of Cura Day Hospitals Group;

  • Apex Laboratories on the divestment of its animal pharmaceutical business to Dechra Pharmaceuticals;

  • Unilever on seven divestments for more than 40 brands and outsourcing manufacturing for Flora margarine;

  • Graincorp and Gardner Smith on acquiring Integro Foods from Goodman Fielder with a new long term supply agreement for Goodman Fielder;

  • Reckitt Benckiser on nine divestments for more than 25 brands, including divesting Ostelin to Sanofi;

  • Pental on the acquisition of White King & Janola from Sara Lee;

  • Kellogg on the acquisition of the Sunibrite business;

  • Australian Mutual Provident Society on its demutualisation structure;

  • Australian & New Zealand Banking Group on the buy-out of minority shareholders in its Papua New Guinea subsidiary by a scheme of arrangement;

  • Rugby on the takeover of Cockburn Cement by an off-market offer;

  • Pennant on the acquisition of South Black Water coal mine; and

  • Dalgety PLC on the refinancing of Dalgety Farmers’ debt and the divestment of Dalgety Farmers to Australian & New Zealand Banking Group.

From 2017 to 2019, Paul was on the Steering Committee for Terra Alliance which is an alliance of 15 investment banks and corporate finance firms covering more than 30 countries and completed 519 transactions with a combined value of US$49 billion for the five years to December 2020.  While on Terra Alliance’s Steering Committee, Paul successfully brought in three new member firms.
